How do I find my nearest ATM?

You can find out your nearest ATM by using LINK’s Cash Locator.

My card has been retained by an ATM. What shall I do?

We would encourage you to contact your card issuer (bank) to inform them of the situation. If they don’t resolve the matter, you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

How do I request an ATM in my local community?

You can ask LINK to review your community’s access to cash on its Request Access to Cash Review webpage.

I’m due to visit the UK from abroad. Will I be able to take cash out with my debit card while I’m in the UK?

Most UK ATMs let you take cash out with cards that use any of several different payment networks – most commonly LINK, Visa and Mastercard. You may see relevant network logos on the back of your card. If you’re not sure, please ask your bank (the debit card issuer) which networks your card supports for cash withdrawals.

How many ATMs are there in the UK? How many have closed in the last year?

For up-to-date information on the number of ATMs, please visit LINK’s Statistics and trends webpage.
