Welcoming the appointment, PSR Chairman John Griffith-Jones said:

'One of the PSR’s key strategic objectives is to promote the development of, and innovation in, payment systems, in particular the infrastructure used to operate those systems. Simon’s extensive experience and knowledge of transformation and the impact of technology will be a significant asset to the PSR. We look forward to having him on our Board.'

Simon Ricketts added:

'The development of new technologies to enable us all to make payments easier, and the promotion of competition in the development of those technologies is something that we should all embrace. I am delighted to be joining the PSR at such an important time for payment systems.'

Simon has held executive leadership positions as Chief Information Officer for Rolls Royce PLC, Scottish & Newcastle PLC and Cadbury Schweppes PLC, as well as a number of non-executive roles within both private and government organisations.
