User-Needs Front and Centre

The PSR established the Payments Community to influence the work programme of the Forum.

Participation is open to everyone. The Community currently includes people and organisations with an interest in payment systems and services, who have indicated that they would like to contribute to shaping the Forum's work.

The Payments Community provides a flexible way for all interested individuals and organisations to engage and shape the Forum's work.

The PSR uses various channels to engage the Community in the work of the Forum. Examples include website updates, meetings, roundtables and events.

Contact Groups

The Forum secretariat is continuously engaging with and growing the Payments Community.

In line with the engagement strategy approved by the Forum at its first meeting, the Payments Community has been split into five categories for targeted engagement, these being:

  • Small Users (e.g. consumer representatives, SMEs)
  • Large Users (e.g. corporates, government, retailers)
  • Payment Service Providers (e.g. banks, building societies, credit unions, agency banks)
  • Technology and Infrastructure Providers (e.g. infrastructure providers, software suppliers, vendors, aggregators, fintechs)
  • Industry Experts (others, including scheme operators, consultants)

Roundtable Discussions

Roundtables for each Contact Group have been scheduled throughout 2016 and dates are provided below.

An additional set of Roundtables is planned for August 2016 to support the Payments Community during consultation on the draft strategy. Dates will be announced shortly.

Payments Community Events

The Payments Community met for the first time in London on 17 September 2015 ahead of the first Forum meeting.

The Community identified a Priority List of Items that were presented to the Forum, which decided to use it as its basis for discussion.

On Wednesday, 13 July 2016 a second Payments Community event took place .

The event was held to:

  1. Launch the first draft of the strategy developed by the Forum;
  2. Launch a 9-week written consultation period from 13 July to 14 September 2016; and
  3. Provide an opportunity for members of the Payments Community to familiarise themselves with the content of the draft strategy.
