On 29 November 2022, we held a roundtable discussion to explore the barriers that stop people who rely on cash using digital payments.

This session included a range of experts from consumer groups and payments industry representatives and focused on:

  • the reasons people continue to rely on cash
  • payment cards that meet cash-reliant consumers’ needs, such as prepaid cards
  • more flexible options for paying bills, such as request-for-payment services
  • providing access for cash-reliant consumers

The roundtable was part of our Digital Payments Initiative, building on the report of the PSR Panel and our response. This document contains a summary of the discussion.
